Fitting in. That is something that has never appealed to me personally ever since I was a child. I always wanted to be different and stand out. You wouldn’t blame me if you grew up the way I did. I was number 3 of 5 girls and my Mum loved dressing us up in similar clothes for special occasions. If you have ever attended Nigerian parties, you will totally understand where I am coming from.

I can understand if you prefer to blend in.  Standing out is not for everyone. But if you want to celebrate your uniqueness and own your individuality, then let me share my tips on how to S.T.A.N.D. O.U.T in life. I am an acronym junkie so expect a lot of them whenever you read my posts.

How can you S.T.A.N.D O.U.T?

This is one of the best ways to stand out in life. In the entire universe, there is only one YOU. No one else talks like you, walks like you, thinks like you and acts like you. Even if you are an identical twin, your likes, dislikes, talents and experiences will not be identical. Make it a priority to discover who you are and uncover all the things that makes you uniquely you. If you operate from a place of authenticity, and not a copy cat, you will shine brightly and be easily noticed even in a crowd of many.

It grieves me to see a lot of people with so much potential and capabilities play small with their lives because they have low self esteem and lack a deep sense of belief in themselves. Too many of us seek external validation and approval to feel good about what we do and who we are. You cannot stand out if you are insecure. You have to take yourself seriously for others to sit up and take notice. We teach people how to treat us by the way we treat ourselves. You don’t need anyone’s approval or permission to be yourself and do what makes you feel good. Show up as your phenomenal self always and people will become more curious about you. Live with intention and give the best account of yourself always. You are a brand so be an excellent one.

This is an easy one to note because we have all been in the presence of people that stand out for their negative attitudes and wanted nothing to do with them. Meanwhile, we all can recall the faces of people that lit up a room when the walked in and their pleasant and friendly disposition that made them attractive to warrant our attention and time. Start by smiling a lot. Respect others and display emotional intelligence in all your personal and professional relationships. There are certain people I will never work with because theirs attitudes stink and makes me uncomfortable so I avoid them as much as possible. A positive attitude opens many doors of opportunities for you. Dazzle people with your great attitude and stand out from the pack.

There is no valid reason to change the core of who you are for someone else because you are who you are for a reason. God created you with a purpose in mind and equipped you with certain qualities that is necessary for your journey. I was told I talk a lot since I was a child. I was called stubborn and told to change. We all have some traits that might be deemed negative by others so it is up to you to find a way to use those traits in a positive manner. Thank God for my talk-ability as I fondly call my ability to talk a lot. It has been a very great gift for making me stand out in my professional circles and it has helped me to bless the lives of many personally and spiritually. I also used my stubborn traits to become resilient and never quit on anything I believe it. The core of who you are is your DNA that makes you stand out and thoroughly equipped for your assignment here on earth. Protect it, nurture it and deploy it as you live a phenomenal life.

Too many are living a mediocre life because they are unhappy and uninspired by the work they do. They are just drifting through life and not fully present because they have refused to allow themselves to become their true and authentic selves. The pressures of the world has gotten to them and they have succumbed to following the path that the crowd follows instead of listening to the call of their dreams and destinies. When you live a life you love and enjoy your work, life is so much sweeter and you will embrace life instead of enduring it. Learn to take a moment to meditate and daydream so that you can be inspired and motivated to be you and nothing less daily. Your life is more infectious and inspiring when you are operating from a place of love and joy.

Why should you be ordinary when you can be PHENOMENAL....

That’s us done with Part A of this blog post on how to stand out. Watch out for Part B where I will delve into what O.U.T stands for and how you can make sure you live as the authentic masterpiece you are, fully shining your light and living a phenomenal life.

That is what you deserve and I am here to support you and cheer you on as you journey through life with the right attitude and confidence to be 100% YOU.
